To understand the pictogram of ‘trust’ is a sweet discovery. The word picture of ‘faith’ depicts a man aside a thousand words coming from His mouth. How precious that is, as the Only One Man to be completely trusted is the Word of God Himself.
He taught us to take our example from the birds of the air. They have that faith built into their intuition. While we struggle about and worry of provisions, the birds do what they were made to do. They cruise in the loft of the winds; they nest and bear families. They sing. And when it is time to eat, the Creator gives them as they need from His Heavens.[i]
These are the words from The Man to build our faith, to strengthen our trust. So often in the collective writings that are His ordained word to us, He would instruct scarlet displayed in moments when trust was essential. It is in these times that we would respond with faith, with belief, to raise this symbol in avoidance of darkness and death. Simultaneously, this breathed life into our destiny.[ii]
The unfolding of our destiny allows His covenant with us to play out. The places and the days we have lived, and will live, are a testament to how we can trust His Words. Only with the mind of a child, can we fathom the hands that hold the whole world can so nimbly weave the threads of our life. Tying so intricately and with such precision, what seemed like a tangled mass in the single days that we walked through form an artful knot that represents His attentive love.
In ultimate faithfulness to His promise, He grants divine wholeness and destiny at the sight of red. The scarlet would foreshadow the ultimate source of provision and purity. That is the ribbon of blood, belonging to the Son of Man given in loving sacrifice.[iii] That One Act gave us the ultimate reason to trust. It stands eternally as the invitation to have faith…
…to believe the Words that rise from His Mouth.
